150 fresh mullein seeds collected in August 2023. These seeds are very tiny and while they are not difficult to grow, they do have requirements to germinate: sowing them in the late fall and letting them go thru winter will meet their requirement of cold winter stratification for them. If you up plan to sow them in the spring, they will need to spend 4-6 weeks in your refrigerator at temps of 39.6 - 39.2F (2 - 4C). Sow your seeds in the areas that you want them and then barely cover with a light dusting of soil. Mullein needs light to germinate, so don't cover too deeply. Ungerminated mullein seeds have a viability of 100 YEARS!This is a biennial plant is desired for several home medicinal uses, the roots, the leaves and flowers can all be used, recipes can be found online. The first year of this plant will be a small rosette of soft velvety leaves. During the second year, a tall spike will grown from the center of the plant and normally reaches 4-10 foot, but multiple spikes can appear. The pretty yellow flowers will appear after the spikes have grown.
