Orangeglo is an open-pollinated variety of orange watermelon developed by Willhite Seed Company in Poolville, Texas and released to the public in the 1960s. Heathy, vigorous plants produce excellent yields of 20 to 30-pound melons with striped, green exteriors and interiors filled with juicy, orange meat. The flavor of Orangeglo is in a league of its own. It is perfectly textured and exceptionally sweet with tropical undertones that are reminiscent of pineapple or mango. One of the local farms grew out all of our watermelons this summer and in a nearly unanimous vote, Orangeglo won the taste contest.
