To lock, Insert the strike (A) until it latches or close the lid at the same time you push the button. With the lid closed and latched turn the key one full turn counter clockwise. This will disengage the button leaving it locked, and the key can be removed to be kept in a safe place. For a safer child proof option, turn the key one turn clockwise. You can still latch the lid while holding the button in when you close the lid. Without holding the button in, the lid will still close, but it will not latch.
