The built-in filter for the die grinder can never be removed and is difficult to clean, leading to restricted airflow, overheating, and reduced tool life. It also has a very coarse mesh, allowing smaller particles into the motor. This aftermarket filter simply slips over the existing air intake and is held securely in place with tabs and a rubber band. It is easy to remove and clean out. It also has a much larger surface area but a finer mesh, preventing more debris from getting into the tool while providing the same airflow. The filter housing is made of nylon and the filter element is made of extra-fine, long-lasting stainless steel mesh and can simply be washed out with water or blown out with air.
