Clear PVC Y-Strainers / Y-Filters (1/2 inch to 4 inch diameter)
Clear PVC Y Strainer/Filter The Y-Strainer allows you to filter out unwanted contaminants in your water or other liquid while allowing you to visually inspect not only the liquid but also the mesh filter to see when it needs to be cleaned. When it does need cleaning, simply shut off the pressure of the water or other liquid and unscrew the mesh filter. Clean the mesh filter with a wire brush and running water, and reinsert. The joint ends are just standard PVC Slick ends that are glued into place with PVC Cement. The joints have unions built in for easy removal from the system if needed. Available in sizes of 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3" and 4". Y-Strainers always come with plastic mesh filters. Metal filters can be orderd in addition by selecting the "Metal Filter" option. When you choose the Metal Filter option, you are only ordering the metal filter, so be sure to order the corresponding Y-Strainer with it. IMPORTANT: Be sure to clean the filter regularly. A filter which is too clogged will increase the internal water pressure and can break the unit, allowing the water or other liquid to escape. Install where potential flooding wouldn't be a problem.
