Nesocodon mauritianus Holy Grail red nectar plant exceedingly rare
Nesocodon mauritianus is one of a very few plant species producing red nectar. It contrast so well with beautiful bell-shaped dark blue flowers. Virtually unknown in cultivation, this plant until recently has been known from a few specimens cultivated by botanical gardens. In its native Mauritius Nesocodon mauritianus found growing on stiff cliffs in wet tropical forest environment. It appreciates warm to intermediate temperatures, moderate light, and moist but not soggy soil. We’ve been growing our plants a bit too bright for their taste so they have some reddish tint on older leaves.
