Common names include Oriental spruce or Caucasian spruce. A native to the Caucasus and Turkey. It can grow to 120 feet in its habitat but usually seen around 60 feet tall. Branches start near the ground and up to a conical crown. The cones are violet when in the ripening process and eventually turn brown. That is when it's a real head-turner. It can grow in rocky soils but protect from hard winter winds. Zones 4-7 Germination Soak seeds for 24 hours. Mix seeds and moistened soil together in a ziplock bag. Write the name on the bag.
