Staghorn Cutleaf Sumac 'TigerEyes' (rhus typhina)
Staghorn Sumac is a perennial shrub hardy to zone 4-8. Also called Velvet Sumac 'Tiger Eyes.' It grows to 15 feet tall and 20 feet wide. Beautiful green yellow leaves. The leaves are covered with hairs. It flowers in May through July and the fruit ripens from June through September. The Fall foliage is red, orange, and yellow. It likes full sun or part shade. It is beneficial to refrigerate the seeds for two to three months before planting or simply plant outdoors in fall to grow in spring. Rub between sandpaper to scarify them before planting. Press onto moist soil and barely cover. Seeds usually germinate in the spring after the cold. (NOTE: Sometimes it takes two winter cycles to make them germinate). 20 seeds per pkg.
