Chain Saws .050 GAUGE TRANSITION As presented at STIHL U earlier this year, five of our most popular chain saw models will transition from .325” pitch / .063” gauge to .325” pitch / .050” gauge. The transition coincides with the new digitally printed guide bars, also presented during STIHL U. The digitally printed guide bars will be extremely helpful in determining if the chain saw is set up with the old combination (.063” gauge) or the new combination (050” gauge). The transition of these models to the .050” gauge chain and new L04 slim guide bars will benefit users by increasing cutting efficiency up to 20%. The new L04 slim guide bars feature thinner side plates and reduced sprocket nose radius, effectively reducing the weight of the guide bar by 10-20%.
