Vaccinium vitis-idaea /Lingonberry 4 Live Plant Rhizomes
***Please read full ad prior to purchasing** Vaccinium vitis-idaea /Lingonberry live plants rhizomes. Please be aware these are Rhizomes. Lingonberry patches are deceptive in that they are often composed of hundreds or thousands of small wire think plants coming up from rhizomes. They form a solid green mass under canopies but what you are purchasing here are individual small rhizomes about the size of a heavy gauge wire. Please see pictures. Lingonberry will not grow in regular soil preferring to grow in acidic soil. These will grow in a mixture of regular potting soil and peat moss which simulates the poor soil of their native habitat. These are a slow growing plant but extremely hardy, in the right environment. Lingonberry is listed as hardy up to zone 9. It is important to note that most commercial lingonberry is from European stock. I'd anticipate Alaska wild Lingonberry to have a much lower USDA zone. They prefer shaded areas under trees. In their native habitat up here I find them under Birch and Spruce. I recommend planting them with these trees as companion plants. I also can wild forage birch and spruce trees. Lingonberry are a prized fruit for those living in Northern climates. The plants will grow in great abundance in the right area. The plants will carpet entire sections of the forest. Each individual rhizome is quite small. But entire colonies can spring from even small sections of rhizome property cared for and hydrated. This offering is for four live lingonberry rhizomes. These plants are very small. See pictures of the uprooted one I have. Please be aware of what you are purchasing and do some research about growing these . Growing a wild plant in your yard is not quite the same as growing a marigold from the nursery. I am in zone 3. I will ship anywhere in the US but be advised it is best to stick to growing things which come from a similar USDA zone in which you live. I have a large amount of these and can put large orders together. If you would like to place a larger order at better cost feel free to message me. These are not potted plants. These are bare root rhizomes and individually are quite small in size. One plant will spread over time but if you are planning on carpeting an area in one season you will need to purchase many plants. I absolutely guarantee arrival of healthy rhizomes. If you receive a damaged shipment please take pictures and send them to me so I can send a replacement. These plants will naturally overtake an area that is conducive to their needs. Growing them in containers requires extra care and gardening experience and for that reason I only offer a live arrival guarantee on these. After customer accepts arrival of healthy plants the Pottery Barn Rule applies. Thank you for reading.
